The Kolkata Doctor Case: A Wake-Up Call for Healthcare Safety in India   The Kolkata Doctor Case:  The Moumita Debnath Case: A Call for Justice and Women's Safety in India The recent events of rape and murder of the 31-year-old Moumita Debnath a postgraduate trainee  doctor at the R. G. Kar Medical College in Kolkata have created quite a stir universally in India now. On August 9, 2024 she was discovered dead in a half- naked demeanour in the seminar hall of the hospital having been raped and choked alive. Her naked body had many injuries and the indications were that she had been raped by a gang of men. The autopsy showed spermatozoa in the body; this depict a hinderance of sexual assault in coordination. Dr Moumita’s murder sparked protests of doctors and medical staff in the whole country for justice as well as for enhanced security measures in health sector.
